Translating in culture and heritage is not about providing word-for-word reiterations in another language. It is about carefully interpreting the author’s intention and to simultaneously open the content to a complex audience.
This is not possible without skill and a feeling for language. But just as important is a profound understanding of both author and recipient, a vital appreciation which can only be gained by hands-on experience.
